Subject: requesting thoughts
Hello,
I'm a newbie on the list, and I just had a general question about the
upcoming
sls conference.
I would like to submit a proposal that looks at 19th century
exploration
literature. My argument is that much of this literature (John
Franklin,
Wesley Powell) is a blend of both popular literature and also popular
science.
I'd like to use Greg Myers' definition of popular science and see how
far back
his definition carries, for I believe that works such as Franklin's
might be
the beginnings of popular science.
Any and all advice would be appreciated.
Tim
