Subject: Session Chairs for Fall Meeting of SLS
The Program committee is making final adjustments to the program for
next
fall's meeting and assigning chairs to sessions. For various reasons
(including well-deserved vacation breaks for some of those involved),
the
final version of the program will probably not be posted until some
time
in August.
But we are VERY interested in hearing from people with an interest in
chairing sessions, especially from SLS members who are planning to
attend
the conference, but who were not able to submit a paper.
Where a complete panel was submitted, we will generally assign
responsibility for chairing that session to the panel organizer, unless
some other arrangement was included in the proposal. For all other
sessions, we are actively seeking interested chairs from the membership.

Many of you have already indicated a desire (or at least a willingness)
to chair sessions; if you have received acknowledgment of that by
e-mail
you do not need to remind us, we have you on a list. If, however, you
have not yet expressed such an interest, now would be an excellent time
to do so. Because we recognize that some schools require program
participation to help with travel support, we will make a special
effort
to accomodate requests from members who would not otherwise be on the
program.
If you have any interest in chairing a session, I ask that you e-mail
me
directly at: nash@indiana.edu
Where possible, we will try to honor preferences, but we ask that you
recognize that this will not always be possible. If there are any
times
that you absolutely CANNOT chair a session, please advise us to that
effect.
Thank you, and I look forward to seeing you in Pittsburgh.
