Subject: Call for poems
LOOKING FOR MEDICAL POEMS!
The HMS Beagle is a Web magazine at
http://www.hmsbeagle.com/
which is aimed at researchers and students in the medical and
life sciences.
We're looking for science-centered poetry of any style, up to 50
lines, 40 lines or less preferred. Generally, we're looking for
thoughtful poems that explore science and what it means to be a
scientist, or medicine and what it means to be involved in medicine;
the best thing to do is to look at what we've already run and draw
your own conclusions (poems appear in the Reading Room section of the
Beagle). Not currently interested in overt SF poetry (e.g., poetry
involving UFOs or aliens etc.) $1/line.
All submissions should be sent as MS-Word
attachments to e-mail messages to
cbelling@prevmed.som.sunysb.edu
or they should be
sent on 3.5" floppy disk (Mac or PC; no 5.25" disks *please*)
in MS-Word to:
Catherine Belling
Poetry Editor, HMS Beagle
2 Manchester Lane
Stony Brook, NY 11790
Also, if you have any suggestions, favorite poems that I could try to
get permission to use, I'd be grateful for ideas!
Thanks.
Catherine
