Subject: Encyclopedia Update
This message has been sent via regular mail to all confirmed
contributors of the Encyclopedia of Lit and Sci, but its plea for
additional participation may be of general interest to others on this
listserv. I encourage any SLS'ers to contribute! As always, the
general idea is for every entry to focus on the interrelations of lit
and sci, the literary aspects of scientific topics/figures and the
sci'fic aspects of literary entries.
An Encyclopedia of Literature and Science, ed. Pamela Gossin
(Greenwood Press).
Friendly reminder: The deadline for most contributions for the Encyc
of LS is coming soon: February 15, 1998. Please follow the
guidelines (dated Oct 15) in preparing your materials for submission.
All contract information was sent from here to Greenwood at the end of
the year as promised. I have not yet heard how long it will take to
generate a contract mailing to you. As soon as I know, I will post a
note on the SLS listserv. The contracts will confirm the list of
entries, their lengths, and the compensation and deadline we have
agreed to. If any changes have been requested and granted in the
interim, please make them in writing upon the contract. Since our
publication goal is 1999, we have plenty of time to get contracts in
line, so please send in your entries on time so editing tasks can
begin as soon as possible.
Friendly request: The following items are still desperately seeking
authors! As the list grows more eclectic, the difficulty of finding
equally eclectic scholars to write them intensifies. As you can see,
some entries are "must haves" (an encyclopedia of LS with no
Blake?!)
If any contributors currently working on their entries would be
willing and able to take on any of these entries in addition to their
present lists, I am offering shameless extensions as bribes! I would
also be most grateful for the names and email addresses of scholars
who might be good matches for any of the topics below. Thank you for
your help in all regards. You have all been great resources for this
project.
