From: James Williams
Dear BAEH colleagues:
I am organizing "People/Technologies/Environments," a session
for the 26th
Symposium of the International Committee for the History of Technology
(ICOHTEC), August 16-21, 1999, in Belfort, France. This is a session
invited by the organizers, and for it I am seeking contributions which
explore the crucial role technology plays in the interrelationship
between
humans and nature. Perhaps some of you are working in areas that might
provide an interesting case study in what I am calling "the
technology
junction."
The general theme of the ICOHTEC Symposium is technological choice,
and,
as always, a variety of social activities are being planned in
conjunction
with the meeting, including an evening with ICOHTEC's own jazz group
"The
Email Special."
If you would be interested in participating, please let me know by
email
as soon as possible. At this stage all I need is a topic idea (paper
title and a sentence) and your affiliation, address, phone, and email
address. I will be submitting a first draft of the session to the
organizers by December 31, and would like to have chosen as many of the
participants as possible by that time. A second circular for the
conference will be issued in February 1999.
Hope to hear from you soon,
Jim Williams
