In conjunction with the beginning of an undergraduate degree program in
American Studies, Oklahoma State University invites applications for a
tenure-track assistant professorship, beginning fall 2002.  Candidates
must
have a strong commitment to interdisciplinary teaching and research, and
must have demonstrated a proven record of scholarship in American
Studies 
(specialty open.)  Candidates with a Ph.D. in American Studies
preferred, 
however we will consider applications from related fields including but
not
limited to Science and Technology Studies, Cultural Studies, Ethnic
Studies,
and Women's Studies.

Candidate's primary teaching responsibilities will be at the OSU-Tulsa
campus.  Candidates will be expected to teach core and methodological
American Studies courses, develop lecture courses and seminars in their
area
of expertise, and contribute to the promotion and development of the
degree
program.  We are particularly interested in candidates who can develop
new
courses on the aesthetic, ethnographic, social and policy aspects of
science
and technology as it relates to cultural diversity in either a
historical or
contemporary context.  Expertise in application and/or implications of
world
wide web and multi-media technologies is also desired.

position
